How this is calculated
On every scheduled date (weekly, biweekly or monthly), the backtest buys
amount ÷ that week's closing price worth of BTC and adds it to the running position:
total coins, total invested, and average cost. The final position is valued at the live price.
The lump-sum comparison invests the identical total on your first purchase date at that day's price — same money, same window, different timing. Weekly closes come from our bundled Bitcoin dataset (methodology), so results are reproducible and don't depend on a third-party widget.
